What is WuYi Star?
The term WuYi Shan refers to the WuYi mountains in Northern Fujian province. Wuyi Shan was formed 30 million years ago and experienced intense volcanic activity. Over the years, volcanic elements fused with the soil to form a mineral rich environment perfect for growing various types of teas.
Legends of Da Hong Pao

The term Da Hong Pao translates to The Big Red Robe. There are numorous legends for Da Hong Pao, the most famous happened over 600 years ago where a scholar name Ju Zi Ding was on the way to attend the Imperial exam with the dream of becoming a high ranking government official. However, on his way to take the exams, he fell sick and took some time to recover in WuYi Shan.

Fortune has it that a monk from a local temple passed by and served him a special tea with healing properties. Soon after, Ju Zi Ding felt better and was able to make it to the exams in time. Not only did he pass the exams, he scored the highest marks and was awarded the imperial scarlet red robe from the emperor. The scholar was so grateful, he went back to visit the monk and wrapped the imperial red robe around the tea bush out of gratitude. Since then, the tea is named Da Hong Pao.

In the subsequent dynasty, the Qing, Da Hong Pao often ranked first in the local tea trade competitions and won the title of King of the tea.
Rarity of Da Hong Pao
Due to the scarcity and significance these mother trees represent, the 6 original mother trees' harvesting has fully stopped in 2005. Wuyi Star used its special cultivation technology to create Da Hong Pao from cuttings and seeds of these original bushes.
In 2006, the Wuyi city government insured these 6 mother trees with a value of 100 million RMB (equilvalent to 14.8 million USD).
